And just to add one thing: the fairness issue for me is straightforward. We structured our financial lives around assumptions we both shared, and I do not think it is fair for me to come out of a twenty-year marriage with no retirement security while you retain the income stream we were both planning around. That is the imbalance I am trying to address.
